Shoulders are the area where the arm is attached to the thorax. this complex structure has two important fonctions. It must be very flexible to allow the hand and arm the huge range of motion, it must provide strong, stable fixed point for certain actions. The great mobility of the scapula combined with actions of arm muscles allows arm to move in many ways.

 

There are many shoulder muscles which must be strengthen in order to get a good statics of the shoulder: deltoid and supraspinatus, subscapularis and teres major, infraspinatus and petit teres minor.

 

For well-development of the shoulders, exercises more often used are lateral raise with dumbbells, bench press, rowing.
